Mission

In service to the victims of crime, the Virginia Beach Police Department Detective Bureau, Missing Persons Unit exists to assertively and objectively investigate crime related to Missing Persons and Runaways, while honoring established legal principles, properly document these investigations, and present the findings for judicial review.

It is the policy of the Virginia Beach Police Department to provide for the timely response, reporting and investigation to calls involving a missing child or adult; runaway; abandoned, abducted, unidentified or other missing children; or at-risk persons and to assist in providing for the health, safety and welfare of these individuals.
