Cold Case Homicide

On Wednesday, November 6, 1996, Virginia Beach Police and Paramedics responded to a report of a shooting in the 100 block of Castilian Drive, located in the Columbus Station Condominiums. When officers arrived at the scene they found an unconscious adult in a parked 1992 GMC pickup truck. The male occupant of the truck was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

Paramedics transported the man to the trauma center at Virginia Beach General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man has been identified as Louis A. Barone, 26, of the 400 block of Falling Lane in Virginia Beach.

Investigators are seeking assistance in locating a vehicle with male occupants that was seen in the area at the time of the shooting. The vehicle is described as an older model light blue or silver Camero with a loud exhaust system. The car was occupied by at least two males. It is believed that the car had Virginia license plates.
