Cold Case Homicide

Virginia Beach Police is seeking information about the February 25, 1987 murder of 57 year old Velma Jane Peregory.

At 8:45 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 1987, the body of Velma Peregory was found murdered in her locked apartment in the 3500 block of Francis Land Court in the Rose Hall complex of the city. Velma was last seen on February 25, 1987 at about 7:45 pm near her apartment.

Police believe Peregory, who had been shot several times, was killed between 8 and 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. There were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and no motive has been established for the killing.

Velma was a retired 57 year old white female who was 5' 7" tall weighing 145 pounds. She had grey shoulder length hair and brown eyes.
