Cold Case Homicide

On Wednesday, December 5, 1990, at 11:45 a.m., police were called to the Food Lion store in the 4700 block of Baxter Road. Joan Schoppaul's body was found in a dumpster behind the store, wrapped in a blue sleeping bag. She had been reported as a runaway on Tuesday, December 4th.

Ms. Schoppaul, 17 years old, attended Green Run High School and frequented the Green Run area.
