Unsolved Homicide

On Tuesday January 03, 2006, at 8:30 a.m., Virginia Beach Emergency Dispatchers received a report of multiple shots fired at the intersection of Old Virginia Beach Road and Barberton Drive. The caller advised that a body of a man was lying in the roadway at the intersection.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene and found the body of Shawn Gary John, age 34. Mr. John died of an apparent gunshot wound.

During the search for evidence, it was discovered that a nearby residence in the 800 block of Elizabeth Court was struck by a bullet believed to be intended for the victim.
